E5h USB Writeblocker is a software program that allows the user to either enable write protection for all USB devices that are connected to the computer or block USB devices completely. The program is portable and does not require installation.
For the write protect mode the write blocker makes changes to the following registry key:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
- “WriteProtect”=dword:00000001 = Enabled
- WriteProtect”=dword:00000000 = Disable
For the USB block mode the write blocker makes changes to the following registry key:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor
- “Start”=dword:00000004 = Enabled
- “Start”=dword:00000003 = Disabled

This utility is released as freeware. You are allowed to freely distribute this program via any method, as long as you don’t charge anything for this. If you distribute this utility, you must include all files in the distribution package, without any modification!
